Is there any logic behind the default colors in Vista?

I'm wondering what MS was thinking or if there is any logic to the change

in color scheme from XP to Vista. In XP the default colors of the window

background and general color scheme seems perfect with white backgrounds

and brighter colors that contrast well with any texts, button or menus .

In Vista the backgrounds are dark and overall due to contrast issues it

seems much harder on the eyes. Is there a reason for this darker color

scheme in Vista that I am overlooking?

 

I switched the color scheme in Vista to "Classic" and it seems so much better

but I'm still wonderinging why MS would choose a color schem that is much

harder on the eyes.

 

Any ideas?

Just guessing that you're not under 25 Pete. Seems the youth today loves color schemes that are difficult to read. They also seem to love the mini viewers without menus, etc.

You're just talking about the tip of the ice berge if you ask me. I understand what you mean.

 

I'm not sure if this offers any insight on customizing but since it's sometimes overlooked I'll add it here.

 

When you're in Personalization>Windows Color and Appearances click on Show color mixer. From here you can adjust the Hue, Brightness and Saturation. Saturation might be something you want to look at.

Yes, the old man that I am, I have noticed over the years that the kids seem to

gravitate towards very odd color schemes that are extremely hard on the eyes.

I've never figured out exactly why that is but maybe it's a clue that Microsoft

has a bunch if kids who helped develop Vista. Hehehehe ;)
