Hi,

I hope someone here is able to help me out somewhat as I have pretty much exhausted all ideas.

I got myself a new computer a few months back and notcied this problem straight away but as I originally didn't plan on using the new one too much just ignored it. Now however I am using it a lot more, so on with the problem..

It's kind of hard to explain in words, but when I use the mouse the cursor at times gets stuck or 'jutters' also when this happens if I'm playing music then the sound will stick only for a second or less tho but sometimes it happens quite frequent which you can imagine is irritating as hell. That's all I can say to explain it, if that makes sense? I thought it might be a memory issue so replaced it but it still happens, I can't think what else it could be.

It still feels like a memory issue because it's when I start something or open or maximise/minimise a document that the mouse or music jitters.. for the music reason it's completely annoying.

I'm running Windows XP.

Thanks. Jon

Hi Jon

Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help

Is this a laptop with a touchpad or a desktop with a normal mouse?

Is it cordless?

Are running a normal onboard sound setup with the latest driver?

How much memory do you have?

Thanks for reply

Hi,

It's a desktop with a normal mouse and yes normal sound setup, I havn't installed any new drivers. And I have a gig of memory. I use this machine mostly now the internet and listening to music. The jittery mouse movement I can ignore (though it's obviously not right), the jittery music I cannot, I believe it's a hardware issue because it effects both mouse and sound.. but it does seem to occur when I do something like open a new page or click the mouse (basically when I activate anything, feels like some kind of glitch is in there), would be greatful for any further assistance.

Thanks.

Hi

Right-click on My Computer and select Properties, go to the Hardware Tab and click on Device Manager.

Is there any device with a RED X or YELLOW !?

What media player are you using? Have you tried any others?

Do you know if your sound is onboard, or if you have a sound card?
