Guest mpinsley Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I am using windows vista to connect to an XP machine. I am able to connect to the host machine but i often get screen errors, but more importantly i can not get the host machine to recognize the fact that i am pressing the f1 key...the application that i am using on the host machine requires f1 for a number of functions (not related to help) My screen size is 1920 X 1200 (not sure if this matters, but i have run into problems before) I have also connected to a host machine using GotoMyPC (Citrix) and i have the same problem. Is there any work around or settings that i can change. Thanks Mark

Check the settings under Local resources - Keyboard in your rdp client. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ mpinsley <mpinsley@gmail.com> wrote on 17 jul 2007 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > I am using windows vista to connect to an XP machine. Guest Sam Hobbs Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Re: F1 key wehn using windows vista to connect into TS on a XP machine For what it is worth, the F1 key is special for Windows; there is special processing for it. I assume you can't get the software changed, but it would be a rasonable request that the F1 key not be used in non-standard ways. If it would help, you could find the Windows UI design document; I would expect it to say that Windows applications should use the F1 key in specific ways. If the software cannot be fixed, then perhaps it helps to know that the F1 key is special.
