Guest Markus Frank Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi, I am trying to install Enterprise Instrumentation Framework (EIF) on my Windows Vista machine. However, the installation always fails and is rolled back. Here is the error message I receive: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." Can anyone help me fix this issue? Have you encountered this before? Thanks very much in advance Markus -- Markus Frank, München

Guest Markus Frank Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Re: Enterprise Instrumentation Framework Installlation Problems Hi Carey, thanks. I had read the Download Center page for EIF carefully. According to various sources (including Microsoft), EIF should install without problems on Windows Vista even if Vista may not be listed as a supported operating system. The error message I quoted is very common, regardless of the Windows version. It looks like the message comes up when EIF is installed on a machine where .NET Framework 1.0 and .NET Framework 1.1 are installed in parallel (this is also documented in the Readme.htm for EIF: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/b/4/eb4fa948-f1c9-4cd1-9f93-2f259da7de98/readme.htm). So let's leave Windows Vista aside for a moment. Do you know of a way to troubleshoot this issue on a Windows XP or Windows 2000 machine? Would uninstalling .NET Framework 1.0 help? And how can I uninstall .NET Framework 1.0 if it is not listed in Control Panel > Software? Thanks very much for your help.
