postie1 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Hi all, hope some 1 can help me out with a problem,first i would like to say its a dell dimension 3ooo comp.I switched on this morning to be greeted with a message that says.:::notice:The primary IDE master hard drive SELF MONITORING SYSTEM has reported that a parameter has exceeded its normal operating range.Dell recommends that you back up your data regularly. A parameter out of range may or may not indicate a potential hard drive problem. Strike the f1 key to continue,f2 to run the setup utility I have not hit any of the keys as yet as im unsure if it will cause n e problems so your help on this matter would be much appreciated Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 This sounds like a SMART error message that is indicating your hard drive is on it's way out Postie, I'd definitely back up your stuff immediately.
