Guest Mark Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Whenever a Windows Update comes down there is a hiden folder created in the C:\Windows folder called "$NtUninstallKB890859$" or whatever the update is. Is it safe to delete or move these folders? We are having space issues on our boot drive and need to free up some space. Thanks, Mark
Guest Newell White Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 RE: Low disk space These are only needed to un-install the relevant Windows update. So yes, it is safe to move them to another partition (as we have done), or off-line to CD-ROM or whatever. FYI we liberated more space on our unexpandable C:\ drive by: (1) 1.5 Gbyte by creating pagefile.sys on D:\ and restricting size of the one on C:\ to a kernel-dump - look this up if you need it, I have forgotten the details! (2) 0.5 Gbyte by uninstalling most apps and reinstalling in D:\Extraprograms - worked fine, including MS Office. Now I am replacing BackupExec jobs with .bat files using ntbackup -- Newell White "Mark" wrote: > Whenever a Windows Update comes down there is a hiden folder created in the > C:\Windows folder called "$NtUninstallKB890859$" or whatever the update is. > Is it safe to delete or move these folders? Guest Haovard via WinServerKB.com Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Re: Low disk space Mark, As Newell posted, there are several things that can provide you with more free diskspace! You can try to run disk cleanup on your drives to get more free space(right click the partition you want to clean up, on the general tab choose disk cleanup).
