Guest moondaddy Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I have 2 computers and both need to use RDC to talk to remote server. My workstation is a member of my home domain and my notebook which I just did a clean install of xp pro is not a member of a domain. 1) If I edit the connection from the workstation I get a window with 6 tabs and a field to enter the target computer (IP address). It also has a checkbox saying "Always ask for credentials" which is unchecked. above that is a link to edit or delete the credential. I click the link to edit and I can enter the user name and password and save it. now every time I click on this connection.rdp file I connect to the server with out having to enter any credentials. 2) On the notebook at the same window, I don't have this checkbox saying "Always ask for credentials" or link to edit or delete the credentials. and always when I click on it's rdp file I'm prompted to enter the password. the first time I did this on the notebook I got another window which among other things had a checkbox saying "Don't prompt me again for connections to this computer". which I checked, but it had no effect. I still have to provide a password every time. I'll attach screenshots of these 3 windows for your reference. Can anyone tell my why the notebook can not save the credential? I thought it might be because the notebook is not part of a domain, but I talked to tech support at the datacenter and that technician who is also part of their domain didn't have this checkbox either. so it seems that being part of a domain is the key. Thanks. -- moondaddy@newsgroup.nospam
Guest Dragos CAMARA Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 RE: Remote Desktop - Save Credentials hi, it seems you have 2 versions of RDP client, upgrade the lower one to rdp 6.0 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925876 -- Dragos CAMARA MCSA Windows 2003 server "moondaddy" wrote: > I have 2 computers and both need to use RDC to talk to remote server.
