Win xp

My Son's computer suddenly started to play all music and sound like an old record player in 33 1/3 rpm. I thought it was a virus. We scanned with Avg and Spybot and Lavasoft, but no help. His computer is an E machine about 2 years old. The next thing I figured maby it is the hard drive. Best buy had a 160mb drive on sale for $59 so we got one of those and did a new install of Win xp. Bingo everything was back to normal. So we then installed the old drive as the slave since he had all his music files on it. Again everything was normal for about a week. Now after about 2 hours of turning on the pc the music goes into slow motion. It doesn't matter what program we use to play the music with.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on ?

I'd say it's a problem with the old hard disk drive. It is probably having a problem fetching data fast enough for your computer's CPU to process it. Try taking the hard drive out again and see if the problem is gone.
