Guest JS Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Re: issues with user accounts Windows has a hidden Administrator account The password for this account is normally blank (none). In XP Home, boot the computer into Safe Mode. Do this by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the right menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here. Once in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account. The default password is a blank. In XP Pro, you do not need to go into Safe Mode. At the Welcome Screen, do/press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" (without the quotes) and whatever password you assigned (default is no password) when you set up Windows. Information is free and we all like to share but if you're going to copy something I wrote word-for-word, it is courteous to give credit. > "Brandy" <Brandy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:64FF6950-05FA-4841-96F5-F855BD812DE5@microsoft.com... >> I accidentally clicked limited account under user accounts and now I can't >> download anything. Before you do all that, see if you have another user account with administrative privileges. If yes, then log into it and go to the User Accounts applet to make the change to your own account. Otherwise proceed to the built-in Administrator account. If you have any questions, please post back. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers http://www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" Guest JS Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Re: issues with user accounts My apologies, but this information is a modified (several times) version of something I posted way back. I can only guess that after the changes I made for this specific post it matched or closely matched what you have posted in the past. I was not trying to take credit for your hard work. So we don't collide on this again could you please post your article.
