Guest Pete Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Hello, was wondering if someone could help me. I have a USB hard drive that I plug into my computer and when I transfer files, it disconnects and reconnects. I have also noticed that my mouse and keyboard will be nonresponsive for a quick moment when I try to use them at certain points. I searched the Help and Support and they said there is a hotfix for this issue to call. I do not however, want to be charged for the call. Can anyone help me or does anyone have the fix? Thanks!

To set your mind at ease, ask the MS tech: I don't have to pay for a hotfix, right? -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2007 "Pete" <Pete@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:309D1113-E46A-458A-BD4F-F0F49E2443DE@microsoft.com... > Hello, was wondering if someone could help me. Guest Pete Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Re: USB File Transfer When I went online to the email/chat support and I put in my PID, they said there was going to be a charge. Should I just call instead? "Ron Badour" wrote: > You do not have to pay for a hotfix; however, be sure that the conversation > does not stray to other than the hotfix issue or you will be charged. Guest Joe Grover Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Re: USB File Transfer I've never paid for a hotfix. I've called product support services, told them I was calling in to obtain the hotfix referenced in the knowledge base article, and provide them the knowledge base article. I don't ask them any questions, and they make no attempt to troubleshoot the issue. The send me an email with a link to download the hotfix, as well as a password to extract the file.
