I've had a terrible time lately! Yesterday my Ipod Nano froze up. It is just stuck with the light on and a song highlighted. But that's another issue. I was trying to fix it and read a suggestion to update the latest version of Itunes. I have dial up cause we live in the country and nothing else is available yet. So, it takes forever (hours) to download anything. It finally finished and I get an error message. Blah, blah is not a valid Win32 application. I try again and get another error message. It's enough to make you tear your hair out! Any ideas out there?

This forum is great! I'm not real computer savy & I know it will be a lot of help.

Hi Beekeeper and welcome.

It would really help if you could remember those exact error messages that you got.

Please try to either repeat the process or just simply try to remember what they were.

Hi bee keeper... my daughter has an Ipod (not a nano) but has had some issues with it. Try hooking the Ipod up to the computer... let Itunes find it like usual, and then in the Itunes window... select the option that allows you to restore the ipod to factory default. That may help. If you do not see that option in the Itunes start up menu, try clicking on the ipod name listed on the left of the Itunes screen. It should pull up some options. I don't have my daughter's ipod with me, so I can't get you any screen shots right now. But I will do my best to stick with you on this until we get it sorted out. :)

Second... you may need to completely uninstall Itunes, and reinstall it, instead of just updating Itunes.

Hi

I think the latest version of of iTunes also has got problems and sometimes you need to re-install/install quicktime seperately.

When the iPod freezes you have to reset it:

About the Ipod. I tried everything - the hard reset, etc. and nothing worked. I just unplugged it and the battery died since the light was on and it was stuck on a song. This a.m. I plugged it back in and the apple screen came up & it seems to be working! I have it plugged in to charge it. I brought it to work with me and plugged it in. Unfortunately, I forgot that I don't have Itunes downloaded (we can't download anything on our compters here) and now how am I going to eject it??? Will it hurt to unplug if it is not ejected?

Ok, secondly I do actually have one of the messages I got. It says this:

C:Documents & Settings\Yowell\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ULBXIT5C\itunesSetup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application.

Also, last night at 8:00, the computer did a scheduled scan. I got up this a.m. and it is still scanning!! Doesn't seem right.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi

What scan are you reffering to?

As far as i know uninstalling iTunes should not delete your music.

Download the latest version of iTunes. Uninstall the old iTunes and quicktime. Then install iTunes and after that is finished then re-install quicktime.

If you want to be safe you can back-up all your music, but as i said it should not be deleted.

Tell us how it goes.
