Guest Daniel Kaplan Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 With little saving, it seems a good 20GBs of my HD have disappeared. Are there any tools that will show me the biggest files off of my HD? Haven't been able to track it down. Thanks.

But I am telling you, I lost a good 20GBs, without any serious installs. Surely there must be a way to find all the BIGGEST files on my entire HD?

There are several programs out there. One that I have used on occasion is AMUST Disk Cleaner, although the version I have doesn't do any cleaning, it does give you the ability to see all your files and folders sorted by size. Here's a URL for you: http://www.amustsoft.com/disk-cleaner/ -- Zilbandy

Guest Mike Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Re: Losing massive amount of GBs My fav is JDisk Report. It's free and will analyze a partition from many differnet views. You can also save the report so you can compare when things change drastically and you're not sure what. A sizeable amount of your hard disk gets consumed because Windows squirrels away large amounts of data on what you use windows for, into hidden folders that are not accesible to the user - and they *never* get erased. See: http://www.fuckmicrosoft.com/content/ms-hidden-files.shtml and http://sillydog.org/mshidden.php and http://www.totse.com/en/technology/computer_technology/163148.html in fact just google for 'really hidden files'. for more information and how to get at them.
