I have two hard drives. My BIOS picks them both up. Shows the correct size,

manfactur and such. Windows XP does no show the second hard drive.

What procedure do I have to do in order that XP picks up the second hard

drive.

Tks

Has the drive been 1) partitioned, and 2) formatted?

Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. Select the 'Disk

Management' from the menu that appears. A box shold open showing all your

disk drives and partitions. Right click in the grey box at the left hand

side representing your disk drive and select 'Initialise' from the menu.

Now you can right click in the space to the right and select 'Create

Partition'. A box will open giving you choices as to size, type etc.

Re: second hard drive

If visible in disk management, XP has "picked up" the second hard drive. To

be visible in windows explorer, the hard drive has to be partitioned and

formatted. The process of partitioning also formats the partition in disk

management of XP.

Be aware that:

FAT32 partitions are limited to 32GB in size in XP disk management partition

creation.

NTFS partitions use file security. May not be accessible to other users,

OR, if the hard drive is moved, to any other user on another PC. FAT32 has

no file security aspect.

Re: second hard drive

Lil'l Dave,

You hit it right on the mark. Thanks so much. I now have access to my

second hard drive. Never too old to learn huh.

Do you know anything about why I can not play vidios, shot clips like on

Weather.Com? I have the latest real player and media player, but when I

click on the video, it goes to the first page and then hangs up. An

suggestions.

Thanks Again

Dale
