I cannot remove it with avg, or freedom.

The Cpu is a Compaq with a 330 Celeron D processor, Windows xp home sp2.

The symptoms are: An explanation point in a red triangle, my desktop

background is changed, i have 50 Ie windows to websites offering anti spyware

and whatnot, also a "windows Security Alert" offering spyware protection, an

"Open File - Security Warning for Locus software, another warning "looksky"

virus detected.

Avg found the Trojan Horse Generic2.dbs and some spyware but couldn't remove

it.

Many Thanks

Hi aaronlane25,

Since you have a number of malware infections, I would highly recommend

registering and posting at a forum that is dedicated to malware information

and removal. Here are a few that you could choose from:

Re: How do i remove " Trojan Horse Generic2.dbs"

Aaron,

It sounds as though you may have quite a mess in there. Not insurmountable,

just painstaking, and time-consuming (but usually good results I might add).

Follow these cleanup procedures for your machine. They tend to go from

easier to more difficult.

And please, after you've cleaned a few nasties out and things seem to run

better--DO NOT STOP. Keep doing the step-by-step until one of the experts

,(and they are definitely experts) finally tell you ,you have a clean

machine.

Sounds like you got infected with a form of Smithfraud Trojan .

Follow the links that was posted by Curt and then do the following also

Then do the specific steps here:

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Smitfraud_Trojan

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to

do all scans in Safe Mode.

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Multi-AV - instructions

http://pcdid.com/Multi_AV.htm - download

AVG what? Freedom what?

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log

to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1

(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.

It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with

assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,

http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,

analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this

isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and

independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Here you go:

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/231/us/crp/2

May I recommend AVG Free Edition or AVG Internet Security?

Be sure to read Top Threats as there is currently an elevated risk.

Hope this works out.
