Guest dan Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I inherited my daughter's old laptop and have a problem with the mouse cursor. If I leave it resting on an icon or other program option for any length of time, it automatically opens the program or performs the action. I know this was an option on XP, but I can't find how to turn this off and make it only do this when I single-click the touch pad. Please help!
Guest Gary S. Terhune Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: opening programs 1. Have you tried a different mouse? 2. Single-click execution is a universal option, so if it's enabled, all mouse input, including touchpad, will behave the same way. (The option you're looking for is in Folder Options, General tab.) -- Gary S. Guest dan Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: opening programs Thanks for the reply, but this is not the problem. The problem is it executes without any clicks, just by letting the cursor rest on the icon or option. "Gary S. Terhune" wrote: > 1. Have you tried a different mouse? > > 2. Guest Gary S. Terhune Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: opening programs For that, I can only suggest trying a different mouse. Particularly with optical mouses, odd behavior like this is, well not common, but I've seen similar cases. -- Gary S. Guest dan Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: opening programs Thanks again, but this is with the touch pad on the laptop. I'll keep looking. "Gary S. Guest Bob I Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: opening programs Humm, you may want to adjust the "tap sensitivity" of the touchpad then. You should find it in Notification Area, or Control Panel. dan wrote: > Thanks again, but this is with the touch pad on the laptop. I'll keep > looking. > > "Gary S. Guest Gary S. Terhune Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: opening programs I've seen the same thing happen with touchpads, though in most cases it's due to inadvertently and ever so slightly touching the pad while engrossed in other things. In any case, make sure single-click isn't enabled in Folder Options. -- Gary S.
