Guest Ty Archer Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I have an ip address conflict on my network. Is there a way to track down which machines have the same addresses.
Guest Martin Rådbo Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: IP Address Conflict Open a command prompt. Use: nslookup <<ipnr>> In my network it give me the following result for computer "trubaduren": ==== c:\>nslookup 192.168.200.15 Server: server.gbg.teknologia.com Address: 192.168.200.11 Name: trubaduren.gbg.teknologia.com Address: 192.168.200.15 ==== Good luck! // Martin "Ty Archer" <TyArcher@discussions.microsoft.com> skrev i meddelandet news:294FD0CE-6BC9-4875-BB67-8DE934798828@microsoft.com... :I have an ip address conflict on my network. Guest Ty Archer Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: IP Address Conflict I did that, and I got the name of the machine that was given it through our dhcp. However, there is another machine or device that most likely has it as a static. How can I find that one. It does not respond to ping. Thanks "Martin Rådbo" wrote: > Open a command prompt. > Use: > nslookup <<ipnr>> > > In my network it give me the following result for computer "trubaduren": > ==== > c:\>nslookup 192.168.200.15 > Server: server.gbg.teknologia.com > Address: 192.168.200.11 > > Name: trubaduren.gbg.teknologia.com > Address: 192.168.200.15 > ==== > > Good luck! > > // Martin > > "Ty Archer" <TyArcher@discussions.microsoft.com> skrev i meddelandet > news:294FD0CE-6BC9-4875-BB67-8DE934798828@microsoft.com... > :I have an ip address conflict on my network. Guest Martin Rådbo Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: IP Address Conflict Remove the new machine and everything in DHCP belonging to it. After completely removing the new one I think nslookup will do it. // Martin "Ty Archer" <TyArcher@discussions.microsoft.com> skrev i meddelandet news:F8E5D50B-4B6E-4AF5-ABDE-83B541ADA907@microsoft.com... :I did that, and I got the name of the machine that was given it through our : dhcp. Guest Gary S. Terhune Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: IP Address Conflict AFAIK, most routers will list the machines and their IP assignments. Try accessing the router and checking it out. -- Gary S.
