Guest Stephen Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Hello, What ports does VPN server use in Windows 2003 Server? I need to open up ports on a router so the server can be accessed from the outside world. Also where in Server2003 are the settings for "remote desktop access"? I want to enable this and change the port. Thanks
Guest Coraleigh Miller Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: VPN Ports VPN uses port 1723. If you just want Remote Desktop access and not full Terminal Services then all you need to do is right click on My Computer and select Properties and then within the Remote tab place a checkmark in the Enable Remote Desktop on this computer. If you are going to access remote desktop with an account other than administrator use the Select Remote Users box near the bottom. That is the basics of it, if you have any issue with this let us know. Guest Coraleigh Miller Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Re: VPN Ports Stephen, know that this is not a port# you need to open. On most routers the IP Type 47 will be a checkbox you need to checkmark called PPTP Pass Through. If you do not see a checkbox with this description, and you have a higher end enterprise level $$$ router, you should refer to your manual regardless. :-) Coraleigh "Jeffrey Tadlock" <news.notmonitored@elfshadow.net> wrote in message news:O4wVvp$yHHA.5376@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > "Coraleigh Miller" <CoraleighMiller@yahoo.com> wrote in message >> VPN uses port 1723. > > And IP Type 47 for GRE packets (for PPTP VPNs). > > --Jeffrey >
