Guest rli Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Help! My Desktop VPR Matrix 2000 (sold by bestbuy) crashed, and I lost my restore disk. I have the product key. When I call the PC Manufacture, it automatically transfers me to BestBuy. They in-turn give me the same number to call the manufacture again and say thats the only number they have. Looking for someone who has a copy of the restore disk. The VPR MATRIX 1600, 1800 or 2000 models use the same disk. i can use my product key. Can anyone help me? i would greatly appreciate it! -- rli

However, aside from bumping your support issue up to a higher tier at either of those repellent companies - Best Buy or the computer mftr. - you can use a generic OEM disk to reinstall Windows. You will use the product key on the sticker on the machine. This will not include any preinstalled software that was part of the original image, of course. Activation will probably need to be done on the phone. Most local computer shops have generic OEM install disks. Obviously you would not want to use a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place since you already know what kind of tech support they give.
