Windows Installer Error bombs Office 2003

All of a sudden, I can not run any of my office 2003 applications.

When I try to run Word, Publisher, Excel or Powerpoint, I get the

following error:

 

"MS [office application Name] cannot install the necessary files due

to windows installer error 1634... Component not used on this

computer"

 

Since last successfully using Office on this computer, I have not

installed any programs, updated any programs or exposed the computer

to any of the Black Tuesday stuff.

 

Any Ideas?

I forgot to mention that I did run Office Repair from the office

installation disk which did not fix the problem.

Have you tried running a Repair? ...uninstalling Office 2003 and then

reinstalling it?

 

Is the machine fully patched at both Windows Update and Office Update?
