Guest Stu Langer Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I recently reloaded Win98 and now I always get the window asking me for my password before I continues to load Windows. I just can't remember what the fix is. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

If no help see this MS article: How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon Prompt at Startup http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q152104/ Disregard the Q135586 link at the bottom of the MS page, instead if you have TweakUI: Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, then double-click TweakUI. On the Paranoia tab, DO NOT select the Clear Last User At Logon check box. That is not for this purpose. Regards, Bill Watt Win98 Computer Help & Other Information http://home.ptd.net/~bwatt/
Guest Ron Badour Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Re: Network password If you use user profiles, you should use a password. If not, go to control panel, passwords, user profiles and ensure the "all user's" box is marked. If you have a password established, go to control panel, passwords, change windows password, type the password in the old box, leave the rest blank and OK your way out. If you have forgotten your password, do a find on: *.pwl and delete the one with your user name; however, you will lose all passwords stored in the .pwl file. If you do not have a password established or have deleted the .pwl file, when the W95/98 logon screen appears at boot, type a user name only and hit OK twice. Go to control panel, network, primary network logon and select Windows Logon. If the logon screen continues to appear and you have Tweak UI installed, go to the Paranoia tab and remove the mark from "clear last user." -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2007 "Stu Langer" <stumann1@mindspring.com> wrote in message news:XmAoi.52$Wc.12@newsfe06.lga... >I recently reloaded Win98 and now I always get the window asking me for my > password before I continues to load Windows.
