Guest judy.sin.jm@gmail.com Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Hi, My company has recently outsourced our IT department to a server farm, which we connect to via terminal server. Salespeople who travel with laptops need offline access to their files for when they are on airplanes, trains, etc. I was quite...surprised...to hear that it is not possible to synchronize files for offline use on a laptop via the terminal server. Can anyone absolutely confirm that this is true? I also saw that someone mentioned that this can be accomplished via third party software, I would appreciate it if someone could recommend a software package that can help us with this problem. Thanks in advance, Judy

You cannot configure a Windows 2003 Server to use Offline Files when Remote Desktop for Administration is enabled, let alone Terminal Services. The Folder Options - Offline Files tab in Explorer states this clearly. I'm not aware of 3rd party software which enables this, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist :-) _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ judy.sin.jm@gmail.com wrote on 22 jul 2007 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > Hi, > > My company has recently outsourced our IT department to a server > farm, which we connect to via terminal server. > Salespeople who travel with laptops need offline access to their > files for when they are on airplanes, trains, etc. I was > quite...surprised...to hear that it is not possible to > synchronize files for offline use on a laptop via the terminal > server. Not completely automatic, but nearly so. If AlwaysSync doesn't do it, you can also try Microsoft's SyncToy: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0fc1154- c975-4814-9649-cce41af06eb7&DisplayLang=en _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___
