Guest jbell94521 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I have a Windows XP Home PC that is connecting to a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition terminal server via RDP over IP. When this client logs off the terminal server, the printers that were "created" on the server to redirect his local printers do not get deleted. I have never seen this before - all other clients who connect to this server have their printers deleted when they log off. Then when this client logs on again, he winds up with duplicate printers in his terminal server session, with the result that applications get confused and printing fails. Any idea how to remedy this? I'm stuck! Thanks! -- jbell94521
Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Re: Printers Not Redirecting and Deleting Properly Can be a problem with the printer driver, or the user profile. Did you install a 3rd party driver for this printer on the TS? _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ =?Utf-8?B?amJlbGw5NDUyMQ==?= <jbell94521@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote on 23 jul 2007 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > I have a Windows XP Home PC that is connecting to a Microsoft > Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition terminal server via RDP > over IP. Guest jbell94521 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 RE: Printers Not Redirecting and Deleting Properly I did install a 3rd party printer driver. Reluctantly, I might add, after trying to get the printer vendor to tell me an equivalent "Native Windows 2003" driver. However I did install it by extracting the entire file set for the driver, and then just adding it to the printer drivers on the server by going through Printers and Faxes, Drivers, Add. So all I pointed to was the vendor's INF file. I did NOT run their installation procedure. If the problem is their driver, then I guess I will need to let my client know thqt we just cannot get his printer to work in this environment. That is, unless you have any other recommendations. Thanks! -- jbell94521 "jbell94521" wrote: > I have a Windows XP Home PC that is connecting to a Microsoft Windows 2003 > Server Standard Edition terminal server via RDP over IP. Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 RE: Printers Not Redirecting and Deleting Properly Depending on which driver and printer model this is, you might still get basic printing features by mapping the printer to a native Windows driver. Detailed instructions here (applies to 2003 as well): 239088 - Windows 2000 Terminal Services Server Logs Events 1111, 1105, and 1106 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=239088 Or define the Fallback printer driver, in a GPO. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ =?Utf-8?B?amJlbGw5NDUyMQ==?= <jbell94521@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote on 23 jul 2007 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > I did install a 3rd party printer driver.
