Guest firewire Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Re: CBS.COM Video Buffering I'm currently using an Actiontec GT704WG for about the last 7-8 months and have had this problem of buffering at CBS news for the last couple of months. I don't have this problem on any other website (Meet the Press for eg). The commercials come off fine and it does not happen all the time with the news. A tracert would tell you whether there's a bottleneck somewhere between you and the CBS site. That would explain a large amount of buffering, but, unless the slowdown is very close to you, there's nothing that can be done about it. Run a tracert any time it's slow to see if there's a reason for the delays. Compare to these DSL speeds. Of course, that was at 5:00, not in the evening when many people are downloading this and other programs. To run a tracert, click Start, Run, type: CMD (Press Enter) type: TRACERT CBS.COM tracert Tracing route to cbs.com [170.20.0.24] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 22 ms 23 ms 23 ms loudsl01.lou.02.gateway.iglou.com [64.253.100.1] 2 24 ms 23 ms 23 ms lou1-fe4-1-0.lou.iglou.com [204.252.74.6] 3 26 ms 23 ms 23 ms 500.Serial3-6.GW1.IND6.ALTER.NET [157.130.99.21] 4 28 ms 35 ms 23 ms 0.so-1-0-1.XL2.IND6.ALTER.NET [152.63.68.166] 5 57 ms 59 ms 59 ms 0.ge-4-1-0.XL4.NYC4.ALTER.NET [152.63.3.102] 6 58 ms 47 ms 59 ms POS7-0.GW2.NYC4.ALTER.NET [152.63.19.225] 7 62 ms 71 ms 59 ms cbs-gw.customer.alter.net [157.130.63.158] 8 55 ms 59 ms 71 ms si2000.bc.cbsig.net [170.20.0.5] 9 63 ms 71 ms 71 ms cbs.com [170.20.0.24] -- Joe =o)
