Guest David H Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I have downlaoded photos from my Samsung camera, rotated them and then renamed them in my camera software Digimax Viwer 2.1. After a few days some of the photos - and in some cases all the photos - cannot be viewed and come up with the message "preview not available". It is intermittent and does not happen to all photos. This problem seems to only have been occuring since using XP. All my other photos saved to disc when I was using Windows 2000 are fine. Please advise. -- regards David H
Guest Kelly Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Re: No preview available Hi David, If you are wanting to change the default program, follow the same process. Once another program is selected, the Preview option will be replaced with Open as the default. Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll or regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll Restore Auto Image Resize Setting to Active (Line 234) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Disable Picture and Fax Viewer Start/Run: regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll Or... Disable or Restore Picture and Fax Viewer (Line 80) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm If you disabled the fax/picture viewer by using regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll, then changing user icons fail to work: You need to re-load the dll and it will work. Have only tried this w/ XP Pro. Reload by typing in regsvr32 shimgvw.dll. -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm "David H" <DavidH@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:331C440F-C12D-452F-A3E3-715F44324617@microsoft.com... >I have downlaoded photos from my Samsung camera, rotated them and then > renamed them in my camera software Digimax Viwer 2.1. Guest David H Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Re: No preview available Hi Kelly Thank you - I tried your suggestions and still nothing - the photos still show "No Preview Available" no matter in what viewer I try to view them. -- regards David H "Kelly" wrote: > Hi David, > > If you are wanting to change the default program, follow the same process. > Once another program is selected, the Preview option will be replaced with > Open as the default. > > Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll or regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll > > Restore Auto Image Resize Setting to Active (Line 234) > http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm > > Disable Picture and Fax Viewer > Start/Run: regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll > > Or... > > Disable or Restore Picture and Fax Viewer (Line 80) > http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm > > If you disabled the fax/picture viewer by using regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll, > then changing user icons fail to work: You need to re-load the dll and it > will work. Please advise. What type of file, jpg, tif, or other? Can you open a file that can't display a preview? If so, you might try converting the file to a different file type. Just a suggestion.. no reason for this to help. -- Joe =o)
