The software in question is usually some version of On Track's Disk

Manager that has been customized for a given manufacturer's drives. I

have some Samsung 160 gb sata drives, and the WD or Seagate versions

of Disk Manager (AKA Disc Wizard) refused to work with the Samsung

drives.

Seems that Maxtor was merged/bought by Seagate. Which means that the

Seagate Disc Wizard would probably work on large Maxtor drives.

For $60, you can buy the real thing (for use on any drive)

Probably available on a torrent too.

bad as XP)

kept the old computer 98 SE.

it was an interesting tech challenge trying to force things to work in 98SE
