Guest Arachnyd Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I think it was a Win98 screensaver, but I'm hoping to find the screensaver that allowed a "glass marble" or hurricane swirl over your desktop. I haven't been able to find it through regular searches on the internet. Does anyone know where I can find that file?

There are many old shareware sites that have these things, and also major repositories like garbo. -- Any mental activity is easy if it need not be subjected to reality.
Guest Roger Fink Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Re: Looking for old screensaver That screensaver is called "Science" (file: science.scr). Microsoft.com shows it in Win98_63.cab, but I'm not sure if that is version FE or SE. It worked nicer in the days of slower processors like PII, but is still a great piece of work, IMO. Cabinet WIN98_69.CAB 04-23-1999 10:22:00p A--- 101,888 science.scr Wow! That's a weird one! It is one of the Desktop Themes... To install Desktop Themes, if they are not already in the Control Panel or in the START menu... 1. START, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup tab. 2. Check "Desktop Themes"; click "Details"; check the themes you want; "OK" twice. 3. Perhaps, re-boot. Some themes require "high color". To get "high color"... 1. Right click the Desktop & select Properties 2. Click the "Settings" tab 3. Use the "Colors" dropdown menu to select "high color" 4. Be prepared. It may ask your permission to restart the computer. |> Arachnyd wrote: |>> I think it was a Win98 screensaver, but I'm hoping to find the |>> screensaver that allowed a "glass marble" or hurricane swirl over |>> your desktop.
