DSTM Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Hi Guys,I had a look at a new PC,and under specs it had,2D/3D video card.No further information. How does one tell how how good or bad this card is,or even if it suitable, for Vista? ON my present PC,I have Nvidia Ge-Force 6200,which is nothing special. How do they compare? Thanks. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.

RandyL Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Hi; Have a quick look here. It seems to be a compromise instead of two different cards. As for how good it is we can't tell without knowing more. DSTM Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 Thanks for the link,Randy. That explains more about these combination cards. My best bet, is to look for one, with a Geforce 8600GT or better,to be safe, from what I can gather. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Dalo Harkin Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 8600GT is a very good mid range card is at the moment very sensibly priced - go for the reference Nvidea one - dont get one thats pre overclocked as you would not notice the benefits for the amount of extra cost. DSTM Posted May 27, 2008 Author Posted May 27, 2008 Thanks for your input, Dalo,I don't need a Rocket Ship.Heard good reports about this Card.I am looking for a second PC,and when I read the specs on the card,as 2D/3D I was confused, hence my original query. Will look for a PC with this card in or similar.Thanks. Dalo Harkin Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 The only thing that you may find with this card is the heat - I installed one the other day and Ideally you need a case with a roof fan like the Antecs - as you are not after a rocket ship card - you may be better looking at the 9600GT range they are slightly cheaper and dont rev up as much - use less power and generate less heat, but they are a fair distance behind the 8600GT in term of raw power.
