Good morning once again....could you possibly give me some advice on how to successfully change from OE6 to OE7.....I have both on my desktop,both set up with accounts,,,,,but only OE6 is receiving mail...OE7 will send but not receive,I assume this is because OE6 is default?

Do I need to remove OE6 completely to enable OE7 to operate fully?

Would I need to reconfigure my PC in any way?

Are there any pitfalls with OE7,as although looking more professional than OE6,it has to be said that OE6 works beautifully.

many thanks...

caskin there is no such thing as OE7 and never will be. Are you thinking of Windows Mail? I assume you have Windows XP.

Hi caskin;

Outlook 2007 is part of Microsofts Office 2007. The latest version of Office.

When you installed Microsoft Office from the CD what options did you choose for Email?

HI RL

Normal installation as opposed to custom......if you recall I was only able to install office 2007 after the time and effort put in by yourself and others when I last encountered problems.

On the disk I have power point,excel,groove,publisher,outlook,one note,info path,word 2007 and tools......all have been installed plus outlook 2007 automatically setup with present email accounts......on paper it appears be a more professional email account with many useful additions.But although it sends it does not receive?

Advice,do I use it?If so,do I need to remove OE6?

Thanks again

Hi caskin;

If you can not recieve mail (but can send) I would look into the POP3 settings to see if they are correct. I've never used this version so I'll have to look up how to do it. Normally a persons ISP would gladly assist you in setting up your email client to work with their mail. In any case you would need the correct POP3 settings and maybe another setting.

Do you get an error when trying to recieve your mail?

Do you know what your POP3 settings should be?

What is your ISP?

What mail are you trying to get? Is it your ISP's mail account?

Also check into Internet Options>Programs tab to make sure your email client is set to Outlook.

OE and Outlook can reside side by side. OE is part of Windows and no attempt should be made to remove it. It could cause issues.

Outlook 2007 set up correctly...some mail (2 in total) has found its way into outlook 2007 but majority still appearing in OE6?

Do I have to close down OE6 to make outlook 2007 default?

If so how?

Can I retain content of OE6?

What are fundamental differences between outlok2007 and OE6?

Both programs are accessing your email. In Outlook Express, go to Tools / Accounts. Elect your mail account and disable the Include this account when sending and receiving. that will prevent Outlook Express from accessing your account.

Congratulations caskin.

That last bit of information you provided was just what kelly needed to get to your issue. Great job in giving that information.

Thanks kelly for picking up on that.
