Local Printing on MS Windows Vista and TS 2003

Hi,

I've had a problem with a local multifunctional printer/fax/scanner (Canon

MP780) not connecting through a TS 2003 session when using MS Windows Vista

client. It works fine when using a MS Windows XP Pro client. I've found this

to be because of the drivers that are used and the naming of them. Both

Microsoft and Canon have said that they don’t think that we can get the

device to work so I'm going to purchase a new multifunctional device.

Can anyone suggest a multifunctional printer/fax/scanner like the Canon

MP780 that they know will print locally through a TS 2003 session when using

a MS Windows Vista client?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben,

I can only tell you what kind of driver you have to avoid. Every driver

which creates a DOT4-Port for the printer won't work. See the following

article:

The portname is irrelevant, DOT4, My_Weird_Port, all works, as long

as you either add the registry value documented in KB 302361 or,

better still, use the newest rdp client.
