Guest Barry Karas Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I get a java update icon (near my clock) to go to windows security center. [i turned off automatic updates since I know to update my security features MYSELF twice per week, and I do not want anything installed automatically.]The icon has no exit option and continually remains by the clock even if I go to the website.. How would I get rid of the icon? Thank you, Barry Karas
Guest R. McCarty Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Re: Java Update Use the Java applet in Control Panel ( Classic View ). Once open you'll see a Update (TAB). The latest Sun Java is 1_6 Update #2. Guest George Hester Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Re: Java Update Either that left-click or right-click the icon in the system tray and see if there is a way to turn off automatic updates from there. The point of my post is that when you get those icons in the system tray a well developed application will make them clickable and allow you to change the behavior from there. Those that are not well developed often do nothing when you click those icons. -- George Hester ________________________________ "R.
