Guest carl feredeck Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 if another user is logged on and I attempt to do a fast user switch then when I click on the the other user icon on the welcome screen, it seems like windows is trying for a moment to load but then the welcome screen flashes a little and it remains on the welcome screen! If howerver I log off from the first account, then I can log on to the second one from the welcome screen! ALSO something has happened with the registry because I am an administrator yet windows does not allow me to change some stuff that I want, I have to right click and select an empty permission box so I can edit it... any ideas? I think xp is calling for a reinstall.... strange stuff going on!
Guest Mark L. Ferguson Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Re: fast user switch not working I would guess that a 'repair' setup of XP would not fix your registry issues. Barring the event of a corrupt user profile for this other account, you might try resetting the registry Permissions. (I mention it because a rash of this seems to be going around) Aaron Stebner's WebLog Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx -- Mark L.
