Guest bilkiraco Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 When I select to create a new folder or shotcut the PC hangs for about 1.5 minutes. Not sure what is causing this. -- bilkiraco
Guest R. McCarty Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Re: System hangs while creating new folder or shortcut in XP Possibly a 3rd-Party software Shell Extension. These are the items that appear when you Right Click a file/folder, such as "Scan with AntiVirus". There is a tool you can download/use to locate the software that hooks into Explorer operations: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html *Would rate it's complexity/use at around 6 out 10, to help you decide whether to attempt to use it for your issue. Not sure what is causing this. Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell]
