Guest Jayenj Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Hi I'm installing an internal pioneer DVR-1810 but can't get my PC to read the device, I was told that I need to add the slave drive/partition/Bios Can anyone tell what I need to do, for the system to read the CD ROM and the DVR?

I am assuming you are using the secondary IDE bus here. On and IDE bus you can have two devices in your case a CD ROM and DVR, on the back of these devices you will see a group of three pairs of pins, they are probably labled CS (for Cable select), SL (for slave) and MA for master. One of your devices should be jumpered to slave the other to master. If the units are correctly jumpered, connected to the IDE bus and the power connection they should appear on the POST screen as the machine boots up, if they do not you may have to go into the BIOS to to have the BIOS detect the devices automatically. If all this is beyond you take your machine to a computer repair shop and have them do it.
