With what? It means that your "automatically get an IP address" failed.

Bad cable, port, or no DHCP server.

Not sure what you are talking about there. If you ensure you have access

to a DHCP server, simply do a Release All and Renew.

Re: Microsoft's "defualt ip address"

Bob,

I did a "route print" command and saw an enrty for a persistan route. I know

I did not enter this persistant route and the network number seemed

familiar....so i wanted to check to verify what that defualt ip was that xp

will give you ........ I think you verified the same netwrok address so I

thank you for that verification ......that is it .......if you ever are ever

wroking on communication issue especailly regarding routing and see this in

your current routing table flagged as ""persistant" do go off wondering how

in the world got that route in there ......it must happen automigically via

microsoft I could conjer up a ton of paraniod laden conspiracy therories

Re: Microsoft's "defualt ip address"

You're welcome. And no I would not worry about that IP address.
