How can I have restore points automatically created dialy or weekly or

whatever time period seems appropriate? I needed to do a retstore and the 1

day available did not work. An earlier one or several earlier ones could have

been just as useful.

Re: restore points

You don't by any chance have Norton Antivirus installed do you? There's a

known problem with system restore if you do.

Restore points are normally created every day. If that is not

occurring, something is wrong.

Re: restore points

Well Ken, JJ is not the only one. I have to force a restore point to be

created as it is rare that Windows creates one on its own.

I didn't mean to suggest that he was the only one. Yes, I've seen

other reports of this.

But if that's the case, something *is* wrong, and you should find out

what's wrong and fix it, not just work around it by forcing Restore

Points.

Take a look at Bert Kinney's site I provided the URL for below.

Is it every day, or every day you log on to xP?

Re: restore points

Hi JJ,

Let's see if System Restore will function in Safe Mode.

Boot into Safe Mode and perform a test restore using the following link.

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/tips.html#3

How to starting Windows XP in Safe Mode:

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/safemode.html

If there are any Norton applications installed, take a look at this page.

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.html

Here are some more troubleshooting steps to take when System Restore fails

to restore:

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html

The Event Viewer can sometimes be helpful in tracking down errors.

Using the Event Viewer to troubleshoot System Restore errors:

As for the missing restore point, take a look at the following page.

Plato, be careful with your attributions, please. I didn't ask the

above, I responded to it.

Mine has created one a day from DAY ONE (Oct. 2001).

I leave my computer on 24x7
