Fortunately mine always reverted to 7.1 from 5.1, I quit switching it back since it really made no difference and it was a waste of time. -- Brian A. I have had this problem with a game. It would be set as 5.1, then after playing said game and closing the program the speaker config would be stereo. I assumed this was because the game didn't support 5.1.and was just not returning the windows config after quitting. IIRC this was an Asus board using soundmax. I could never fix it, as this was the only time I noticed it happening, (apart from a bug where sound wouldn't come back properly after hibernation), I assumed it was a game bug. The OP didn't state if this seemed to be random, or after each boot or some other scenario.

I realize that, hence why I used the word "Fortunately". I was only mentioning on how mine always switched and I never solved it, except by leaving it. > > I have had this problem with a game. It sits at 7.1 here, I can't bother with it especially since I have the home sound system up and runnong 90% of the time. > > The OP didn't state if this seemed to be random, or after each boot or some other > scenario. Nope, didn't. -- Brian A. Guest impossibledone Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Re: Speaker config won't remain in 5.1 I realized that it is game related also. When I open Neverwinter Nights II the game changes the setting, not when I close it, that is what threw me off. I have to minimize the game and change the setting every time. The game has no setting for this so I have to deal with it.
