Hi, I am using XP Professional. On my Task Bar (immediately to the right of

the Start button) I have a few icons, and IE7 was definitely there, but has

suddenly disappeared. It has not disappeared as an unused icon, as I use it

all the time! How can I get it back there, and any suggestions as to why it

disappeared? Many thanks. Trish

Re: Task Bar

The area to the immediate right of the taskbar is called Quick Launch which

can contain your most frequently used shortcuts. I think you are saying

that just the IE7 shortcut is missing. If so, do you have an IE7 shortcut

on the desktop? If not, look for one on the start menu. Right click the

taskbar and remove the mark from Lock the Taskbar (assumes it is marked). A

divider will appear separating the taskbar from QuickLaunch (QL). If there

is insufficient room for a shortcut to the left of the divider, left click

it and drag it over to the right. Then right click the IE7 shortcut, drag

it to QL and release. Select copy here. Relock the taskbar.

It is usually on the Quick Launch toolbar, (along with Media Player, show

desktop etc.), not the System tray which you are refering to.

Right-click on the Task Bar, go to Toolbars and see if Quick Launch is

ticked, if it is you might have accidentally deleted it from the Quick

launch toolbar. All you need do is drag a shortcut for IE7 to the Quick

Launch toolbar area to create a new one.

This is called the "Quick Launch Bar." It contains shortcuts to start

programs. Note that, although it appears *on* the Task Bar by default,

it is not actually part of it, and can be dragged off it and docked on

another side of the screen if you prefer.

You can add any shortcut you want to the Quick Launch Bar by simply

dragging it there. If you have an IE7 shortcut on the desktop, drag it

there. If you don't have one, create one on the desktop, then drag it

there.
