Guest paintedrider Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Was having some "freezing" problems on computer. Took back parts provder to have it tested. Thru everything but the kitchen sink at it and could not replicate the errors. Said "all is good, take it home". Now my itunes and quicktime will not work. Keep getting an error message and a request to send to MS. When we check the error message it say's it's trying to run on Windows NT! Keep removing, deleting, rebooting, re-downloading to no avail. Used to work, now it doesn't! Anyone else having any great ideas on how I can get itunes to function. BTW, I have the disk for an earlier version that came with my ipod. Can't get that to work either now! Short of re-installing my operating system, I'm at a loss. -- Julie
Guest R. McCarty Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Re: Itunes will not work on my XP SP2 One standard procedure would be to uninstall iTunes and QuickTime. Also there are several Profile specific folders that hold options and data about iTunes in \Documents and Settings\'YourLoginName'\Application Data\Apple Computer that would need to be removed as well. Just uninstalling iTunes does not remove the profile specific folders so your problem may reside with those folders. Another aspect to the problem is the more you do to resolve it, the more complex the final solution becomes. If possible it is advisable to do a system restore back to a time before you started your efforts to fix iTunes and start over uninstalling & removing profile specific settings.
