Guest Cyberpro60 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 My windows XP system notified me that it had an update to install - which I accepted as suggested. Upon completion I got a message saying: "This setup will only upgrade over an existing version of Microsoft VM". I assume that "VM" stands for Microsoft Virual Machine - Microsoft's now defunct implementation of Java however as this software is not installed on my machine I am wondering why windows update is trying to update it? Worse still, this update also forces me to reboot my system at which time I am again prompted to install the same failed bit of software. GRRR! I have trawled around the net looking for a solution without success although this problem seems to be occuring quite frequently. How can I remove this so called "update" from the queue and stop this from happening over and over again. (Note: Installing Microsoft VM is NOT an option as I have Sun Java installed and I don't wan't to mess with that installation).
