Missing MSVCR71.dll

I recently upgraded a file and now, when I boot, I get a message that

another program fails to start because MSVCR71.dll can't be found. I'm

running XP Pro. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks very much.

Re: Missing MSVCR71.dll

Sorry. Let me try to be a little more clear. I upgraded a program (ATI)

and now when I boot, another program won't run (rainlendar2). That is when

I get the message that MSVCR71.dll can't be found. I have not recently

repaired Windows and the only change was to upgrade ATI.

I hope this is a little clearer.

Again, thanks much in advance.

Mike,

That DLL is Visual Studio.NET 2003 C++ Runtime file.

Try re-installing .NET Framework 1.1

Hi Mike,

You can search your computer for this file and copy it where the Rainy

Program want it say in here:

C:\Program Files\rainlendar2 = copy it here.

Or you may didn't install the .Net Framework need to run your new upgrade or

newly applications.

Re: Missing MSVCR71.dll

Hi Nass,

Thanks for getting back with me. MSVCR71.dll doesn't exist anywhere on my

computer. I just finished upgrading to .NET version 2.0 (which the ATI

software needed).

I saw the "MSVCR71.dll cannot be found" error message when yo repair Windows

XP..." searching for help in Microsoft. That doesn't help, unfortunately.

I didn't repair Windows XP or whatever the other was...I'm kinda' punchy

tonight.

I'm not sure what I should do about your further instructions. Can I just

copy the file from

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa731542.aspx to the location

Rainy is looking for? Doesn't it need to be in another location for the

..NET software?

I don't speak .NET at all.

Thank you for the suggestions, nass. Obviously, I'm needing all the help I

can get and I appreciate your time!

Re: Missing MSVCR71.dll

Hi Newbie,

Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure what to do, here. I had .NET 1.1 installed and just upgraded

to .NET 2.0. Do I need to back up to 1.1 all over again, then upgrade

again?

You point to the C++ Runtime file but should I get it offline and copy it to

the Rainlander2 program files or does it need to be in a .NET group of

files, too?

Thanks for getting back with me, Newbie. That's for sure how I feel,

sometimes. I appreciate your time.

Re: Missing MSVCR71.dll

..NET Framework 2 is not an "upgrade" from 1.1. They are entirely separate

libraries. Some apps use 1.1, some use 2 and some even use .NET Framework 3.

If the app needs Framework 1.1, having 2 installed isn't going to help a

bit. My recommendation is to install all three, and make sure you install

SP1 for Framework 1.1 (http://tinyurl.com/6rnvj)

Re: Missing MSVCR71.dll

Hi Mike,

You don't upgrade from .Net Framework1.1 to .Net 2.0 they are separate

versions.

Try to install the three of .Net Framework1.1, 2.0, 3.0 on your computer

also try to update or get the latest Java Version installed on your computer.

Open a run command and type in:

sfc /scannow click [OK] you will need your XP CD for this process.

The MSVCR71.DLL locations (Note if you have other partitons it will be there

like D:\ for ex)

Size: 340 KB (348,160 bytes)

Internal Name: MSVCR71.DLL

File Version: 7.10.3052.4

Product Name: Microsoft® Visual Studio .NET

Product Version: 7.10.3052.4

C:\Windows\System32

C:\Program Files\Jre1.6.0

Re: Missing MSVCR71.dll

Hi Nass,

OK, I reinstalled v. 1.1 and installed v. 3 while I was at it. I got a copy

of MSVCR71.dll and copied it into the C:\program files\rainlender and am

getting the same results. I have written a Rainlendar forum for help and

think that's the more appropriate place for it, now. Thanks for your help.

I miss that program a LOT. It's a great calendar.

Thanks again,

Mike
