Install *.dll into Registry

I've received a Windows Window Player 11 error message that my Windows XP

Service Pack 2 doesn't have "xvidcore.dll" needed to play *.avi videos. I've

downloaded this *.dll. It came in a zip file with the instructions to install

it into the Registry. I don't know how to install anything into the Registry.

Hope someone can help me out.

Thanks.

Maybe "register the file", but CERTAINLY not install it in the registry.

Please RE-read the instructions again. If they are are not explicit,

then you may copy, paste the text for the part about registering it in

your message and an interpretation will be made for you.

Re: Install *.dll into Registry

Thanks! I was suspicious. I did a full back up, didn't touch my Registry then.

Put that *.dll into Windows > System 32 along with all the other *.dll files.

The video plays now ... and if I have any problems, it should be easy to go

in and just remove it.
