the office, or go on vacation from home and vacate your home. If a holiday

is really a holy day, then going on vacation and saying you're going "on

holiday" doesn't make sense unless your vacation is a visit to a holy place

is from old english for 'holy days'.....and for your information, my

holiday in Portugal consisted of visiting a lot of "holy places". They

are called "churches and cathedrals and basilicas".

We refer to our vacation time as our Holidays....period!! You got a
