Re: monitor shutdown

Not that I know of. But leaving the monitor on should be no problem. When

the monitor is "idling" it uses next to no power.

Hi Kevin,

Right click the Desktop/Properties/ScreenSaver/Power/Turn off monitor.

Added tip:

Enable Monitor Power-off on Logon Screen (Line 160)

Re: monitor shutdown

But that doesn't turn off the monitor any more than shutting down. Whether

it's your method or shutting down the computer, the monitor goes into

standby mode and uses hardly any power at all, but it isn't turned off.

There's good information on shutdown problems here:

Re: monitor shutdown

that is called standby... and according to the model of monitor it uses 3-10

watts...

TVs, dvd players and sound systems all have standby and all drain a small

amount of energy even if they are not working...

I suggest get a power strip with a switch and turn everything off.

Sorry, ignore the above. I misread your question completely. You said

"monitor," but I somehow read "computer."

Re: monitor shutdown

Maybe on some monitors there's an orange light, but nowhere near all of

them.

If anything, it's only lowering it.

IMO, it can't go much lower.

And that somehow makes her contributions less? You're complaining that she

doesn't go far enough? If so, you have a very strange set of mores. Yes, she

sometimes misreads posts -- we all do. But your animosity is seriously

misplaced. Suggest you go out and make a site that does all that Kelly's

does and more. If it has real value, I'm sure someone will use it -- if they

can't find what they need on Kelly's site. Probably at least a *few* things

she's missed.
