Guest BillW Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Re: [HELP] IIS install problem on XP SP2 I'm having exactly the same problem trying to install IIS. I found the KB894351 article and checked to see if the security file was corrupted, and the response was that it is ok. So this means that I have to follow Method 2 described in the KB article. But it requires both a XP Pro and a XP Pro SP2 CD. But my PC came with SP2 installed and that is the only CD that shipped with it. I spent two hours today on the phone with the vendor (HP) to see what they could do to supply with me a the pre-SP2 CD for XP. Bottom line is that they have no way to do this. They haven't beenshipping the old version for a very long time so have nothing in their inventory. This is basically a MS problem, so I tried to find out from MS if they can supply access to a XP Pro CD (without SP2) and couldn't get to first base. Any suggestions out there? I know I can't be the only person in the world stuck trying to get IIS installed. This has to be a very common problem. hopefully...
