replacing a failed primary mirror

I have SBS 2000 running with two software mirrored partitions. The first

software mirrored set of drives are the C drive and contain system info. The

second software mirrored set of drives is the D drive and contains data.

The primary mirror of the C drive set is showing a bad block. What is the

best practice for replacing it?

Please include whether at any time during the replacement process the D

drives should be taken off line.

Hi,

You should post your question to one of the following groups:

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

microsoft.public.windows.server.general

This group is dedicated to Windows Terminal Services. In addition,

I strongly recommend you use hardware RAID in the future--it will

make your life easier.

Re: replacing a failed primary mirror

break the mirror.

you cannot remirror bad blocks

I would recommend running spinrite on each drive or ghosting the drive to a

new seagate.

If spinrite fixes the bad block, remirror it to a new drive (prefer seagate

cuz seagate comes with acronis tools).

good luck.
