For further advice you should provide full details on the "MACHINE CHECK: REGS" error so that potential respondents know what this is about.
Guest vaykant Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Re: machine check: regs error i cant get back into safe mode to try a system restore. there wasnt anything else listed in the event viewer except for a link to a M$ KB article which wasnt helpful - error unknown. thanks "Pegasus (MVP)" wrote: > > "vaykant" <vaykant@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:A05DA54F-6556-4329-979B-B9511829AD8A@microsoft.com... > > need some help with a pc that wont boot. > > uninstalled zone alarm firewall (buggy) rebooted and the pc is hanging at > > the windows boot screen. > > booting to safe mode worked once and MACHINE CHECK: REGS error was listed > > in > > event viewer. > > pc just hangs now at the windows boot screen. > > have tried several repairs with no success. > > have emailed zone labs with usual response - thanks for trying our > > product... blah blahblah... link to download new version... > > > > how do i fix this error and get the pc booting again??????? > > thanks in advance > > vaykant > > > > system specs: > > amd 2600 (32b) > > asrock k7s8xe+ > > 2x 1gb ram > > wd 80gb hdd > > nvidia 6800gs > > pioneer dvd 112 > > > > You could use System Restore to return the machine to a point > before the current problems started. About the only thing to do is to put the motherboard back into a very basic condition, re-set its bios to the default (or factory) settings and hope for the best.

And what are the other two OS's and were the three OS's in their own hard drives? And for the 3 systems, what boot manager is being used, e.g., XP's boot.ini file or something else?
Guest nass Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Re: machine check: regs error Well, a clean install is your only option then, but if you have Data on this partition, you hook this HDD to another NT system as Slave with USB enclosure and Rescue your Data then perform a clean install to the Operating system on hat Partition.
