Guest J&D Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I'm having trouble removing old game files, one in particular that is causing an error message during start-up. I'm not very computer savvy, so please bear with me. The message I get appears at the end of the start-up process, after the desktop and all the icons have loaded. It says, "16 bit Windows Subsystem. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application." I then have two choices, either 'close' or 'ignore'. I've traced this message back to a game we'd installed for the kids. When I try removing it through the 'Add/Remove programs' option, I get the same error message. The uninstall program included with the software doesn't work, either. I don't know if this is hurting the performance of my system, but I'd like to get it removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
