Windows XP Professional - Task Bar

Hi, For about a week now, I keep losing IE from my task bar. I then go to

the start menu, press Ctrl and drag a copy of IE7 onto my task bar. It

remains there until I log off, and is not there when I log on again. Since

I use this numerous times daily, it is quite frustrating. The task bar is

unlocked. Many thanks.

IE should already be on the Quick Launch Bar.

Either way, run Save Settings on Exit from line 54: Right hand side

Hi Kelly, thank you for that. I know IE should have been on the Quick

Launch bar, and it was , but for some inexplicable reason it suddenly

disappeared. I have used your tweak, thank you, and put IE on the QL bar,

then logged off and restarted, and yes! it is still there. So thank you!

Re: Windows XP Professional - Quick Launch Bar

Hi Kelly, I guess I was too hasty! Having logged off yesterday after using

your tweak, and then logged on again to find my IE still on the Quick Launch

bar, I thought all was well. Regrettably this morning it has gone! Any

other suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks again.

Trish-Try getting IE back on the Quicklaunch bar & then uncheck it (QL)-then

reenable it.Works for me when I'm trying to save the order of my icons on

the QL bar.

Hi Gary

Regrettably not! It was gone again this morning! It really is wierd. I

have just turned the QL toolbar off and then on again, and it has not

re-appeared, so I will have to put it there manually. I have never had this

trouble before. Is there a particular way I should place IE there? I have

been dragging a copy from my Start Menu. Looking forward to your response.

Many thanks.

Trish-

Another way to do the same thing is to,after putting IE back on the QL

bar,is to disable it from the start button or taskbar(properties)-uncheck

"Show Quick Launch"/ Apply/OK, then go back & reverse the procedure.

Like I said,it helps when the icons rearrange themselves, & hopefully using

the "Apply" & "OK" will assure the save better than the disable/re-enable

technique.

I sure hope that this does the trick, this time . Keep us posted.

Oh Trish-Just thought of something-Also try the "Lock the Taskbar" & uncheck

& "Lock" ,between the procedure each time & OK your way out. May(or may not)

be the key to the whole thing. I know that if it is locked & a program adds

a QL Icon, then the width of the QL does not increase when locked & the width

,then ,becomes predetermined.[see edits in my response from earlier, above]

Gosh ,I hope this works(fingers crossed)

Right-click the shortcut, click Properties, set "Read Only". Maybe that

will keep it from disappearing..
