Seth Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Tracking cookies aren't threats. I'll elaborate if need be. Run HT and remove the following: R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = Starware -= O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file) Super doesn't need to run at startup. Go into it's preferences and uncheck that option.  The only significant problem left is AVG is still running. Download and run AVG 7. You should get the option to remove AVG as you start the install. Do so if the option comes up. If not, let the install proceed, reboot, and remove AVG from Add/Remove. If it's not there, go to Start>Programs>Grisoft (or AVG) and you should see the uninstaller. Once that is complete confirm that AVG no longer shows up in the HT log. chajun Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Can't locate O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file Also AVG doesn't seem to exist as 7 only 8 does this matter? Quote
RandyL Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Hi chajun; seth will be back to look at this and explain. Seth Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 That entry should be there, as it shows in the log. Try again, but if it's not there, don't worry about it. Any AVG version 7.xx should do the trick from this site: http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=avg The site may be a bit slow. If all else fails, we'll get rid of AVG manually. chajun Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Hello found the AVG 7 but I can't seem to installi it keep getting message. Local machine: installation failed Installation: Error: Action failed for file avg7core.sys: starting service.... The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. (1058) Rollback: Error: Action failed for file avgupsvc.exe: removing file.... Access is denied. (5) %PATH% = "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgupsvc.exe" ??????? Quote
Seth Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Well we can work around that, but it would be easier to just manually remove it. Remove these entries from HT: O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [AVG7_Run] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe /RUNONCE (User 'SYSTEM') O23 - Service: AVG7 Alert Manager Server (Avg7Alrt) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: AVG7 Update Service (Avg7UpdSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: AVG E-mail Scanner (AVGEMS) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgemc.exe (file missing) Restart the computer and run a search for AVG files. Delete all that is found. Restart and open Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab and you should not see an AVG process. Correct? Quote Need help with your computer problems? Goku Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Hello Chajun. Download the following file to your Desktop and open it. After it has been opened, you will find a file named MSConfig Fix inside. Double click on it and answer Yes to the following prompt. It should say something like "The Registry value was imported successfully". After you have done so, try to start the MSConfig utility again. Tell me if it works or not. Good Luck. :)Â -- GokuMSConfig Fix.zip Quote
