Now try ipconfig /renew

Keep the UAC off and then try.

Is it still the same?

I'll probably by out until tomorrow. I'll check back then.

In the mean time, if you have a firewall, disable it to see if that's the cause.

ok this is what you need to do

Firstly I notice your using A static IP address for your Router

ie the 83. address. Now if your using a router you will be ussing a class C Subnet which sould be something like 192.168.x.x

so What I suggest would go to your router and look to see if DHCP is enabled and if so what the ranges are should be like 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.255

if you get the correct Class c addresses from your routher what you should then do is the following

set an IP address for your computer at a high end of the list so you will not effect the DHCP on the other devices choose something like

ip adress 192.168.1.253

Subnet 255.255.255.0

default gateway 192.168.1.1

prefered DNS server 192.168.1.1

so

what you need to do is following go into control panel > network and sharing centre > then click network connections on the left pane

under IP Version 4 click properties change to

and set the above

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST GET YOUR CORRECT CLASS C IP ADDRESS,

AS I said if you are using a router which you said you are you will defintaly using a class C Network addressing.

from your ipconfig /all your local area connection is using a public ip addressing which is the 83. etc :)

PLEASE NOTE AS WELL TO ALL STAFF You do not need to turn off UAC to renew an IP address, what you will need to do is Right click on CMD and click run as and type administrator details in. this will solve this.

looking closely now at your ipconfig /all I will just paste and point a few things

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2889:8d06:ea80:bfb3%9

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 86.14.209.55

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.252.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 86.14.208.1

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.64.78

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

ok the Red writing above is one connection so, what I want to ask is the following.

You have two Network Cards. which are both in use the 86.14.209.55

Connection: is your NTL Cable Connection.

Is your NTL connection going directly into your pc and then your router connected through your pc on the other port? as far as i can tell from your setup that the way it looks.

if that is the case I belive your Router is getting interfeared from NAT "Network address translation"

Can you please let me know if that is the case, because if it is you are setup wrong :)

Using a computer that is connecting to the Internet, do an ipconfig /all and post the results here so we can see how a connecting machine looks like.

Since we can't get the router to give us an IP address automatically, let's try to use a static IP address.

Since you're getting pretty good at this stuff, I won't go into detail.

Try this ....

Start / Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center /

Single click Manage Network Connections

Right click on the connection you want to use. For the time being, use the wired Ethernet connections and go to Properties.

Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click on the Properties button.

Click the Use the following IP address button.

Enter an IP Address: 192.168.2.10

Enter a Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Enter a Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

Click on the Use the following DNS server address

Enter a DNS server 192.168.2.1 and 194.168.4.100

Ok out and restart

What would be interesting to see is if you go back to a DHCP addressing, would it work? Maybe the computer was stuck.
